All the EFFIS activities of JRC are coordinated with DG ENV to reach the final users, Civil Protection and Forest Services, in the EU Member States and all EU countries.

The countries actively involved in the EFFIS network are currently 24: Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Germany , Greece , Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania , Slovakia , Spain, Sweden, Switzerland , Turkey, United Kingdom.

The Agriculture, Forest & Soils Unit of DG ENV together with the Land Management and Natural Hazards Unit of JRC coordinate the activities of the EFFIS network.

In addition the Civil Protection Unit of DG ENV is involved in particular through support to the Monitor Information Centre (MIC) in Brussels which is fed with real time information along the fire season.

The EFFIS network meets regularly twice a year, in spring and in autumn, i.e. before and after the main fire season.
